  • Well Hello There!

    So glad you stopped by! In summary, I'm a lover of the Lord and devoted dog mom with weaknesses for vintage treasures, fabulous shoes and seeking out the perfect lip gloss. When I'm not photographing babies, children and high school seniors, I love traveling, antiquing and supporting several causes close to my heart. I'm probably one of the most nostalgic people you'll ever meet and that, along with giving back, has helped shape who I am and the art I create. I invite you to check back often to view favorite images from recent photo shoots as well as a few personal posts now and then. Blessings!

Eileen C - Love this photo!

Months ago I emailed you asking for your advice on cameras as I was switching from film to digital. Now I have my first digital SLR(Canon Rebel- this you suggested). I LOVE it and have already been offered money to take pictures of a family. Your photos continue to inspire me as I explore the world of digital photography…thank you for taking the time to answer the questions I had.

God Bless!
Eileen

Heather Thorne - Aw I’m so glad it’s working out for you Eileen! Thank you so much for your kind words! Blessings to you!!

Tori {Dallas Fort Worth Senior Photographer}

Oh dear – I’m way overdue in posting the fabulous Tori.  This high school athlete was such a joy to photograph.  She claims she didn’t know what she was doing but just look at her!  Tori, you are beautiful and I wish you much success in your future endeavors.  Such a pleasure to photograph you!

Enjoy these faves!

Here is the cover of the book I did for her – she wanted something pink:

Megan - Beautiful!

Girl’s Best Friend(s)

Sweet Cindy called me a while back wanting some portraits of herself – it had been years since she had any taken and she wanted to surprise her love, (whom she’s moving back to Holland for at the end of this month) with some.  She also wanted to capture her four dogs as a couple of them are getting very old.  I so enjoyed photographing all of them – Cindy has a huge heart for animals and I love stories of how dogs are saved from an otherwise hopeless life in a shelter, or worse yet, lose their lives because no one wants them.  When I asked Cindy to tell me about her little family, this is what she said:

*Grace is the big blond Anatolian Shepherd mix, she was a rescue from HART and she’ll be 9 next week. She was named after the one thing she’s lacking because she’s the biggest klutz-dog ever. She trips over her own feet, but she’s the sweetest girl. She has the worst hip dysplasia, so every winter I just keep my fingers crossed and hope she makes it through another one…
*Ella is the black Chow-Chow. She’s my fierce protector but she’s also just a big baby. She was a rescue through the Arlington shelter and she’s about 7 or 8. We don’t know how old she is because she was found as a stray in Arlington with her two puppies that she was trying to protect under a house in the middle of summer. Because the shelter workers couldn’t get her out and she tried to bite them, they had to shoot her with tranquilizer darts (twice!). She was labeled aggressive and would have been put down, but luckily there was someone at the shelter who saw she was a good dog and kept her alive.
*Lily is the little chihuahua/terrier mix and she’s the baby. She’s only about 5 and she was rescued from Brown County Humane Society. She’s the sweetest and neediest dog you’ve ever met with the longest tongue. I swear she can reach across the room with that thing!
*Munchkin is my little old lady. She’s the black pomeranian and she’s 13 1/2. I’ve had her for about 5 years now. I sort of inherited her when her owner passed away. I was supposed to be her foster home while I helped her lose some weight (she weighed 20 pounds when I got her) and get her medical stuff under control, but who can resist her???? She’s the biggest food-hog but she’s also smart as a whip and just irrisistible!

Cindy, thank you for the opportunity to photograph you!  You are such a special person to save these animals and I hope I captured their spirits in these images.  I wish nothing but happiness in your future back “home” in Holland and with your relationship!  Blessings!

Beth Daane - So adorable! I love them, Heather. Wonderful work, as usual!

Susie - Great pictures of this family! :) You must be the “dog whisperer” for getting all four dogs to sit nicely for a photo!

Heather Thorne - Thanks ladies! Susie, not sure about being a Dog Whisperer. HA! They were very well-behaved! :)

Robert-Jan - Beautiful pictures. Nice to have such professional photo’s.
But where is the Dutch guy in these pictures?

Image of the Week! {Dallas Fort Worth Children’s Photographer}

So excited – I just saw that the image below got “Image of the Week” on the prestigious National Association of Professional Child Photographers website!   I love this image so much because it’s really the style of photography I strive for – sweet moments and capturing relationships.  Thank you NAPCP!!

Also, if you are a children’s photographer and haven’t joined yet, I encourage you to apply for membership. From now until December 31, they are offering $25 off the membership fee.  It’s such a great resource and an organization I’m proud to be a part of!

Baby “P” {Dallas Fort Worth Child and Baby Photographer}

Oh how I love a sweet newborn session!  Little “P” is “G”‘s new baby brother (go check out her recent shoot here) and I had so much fun photographing them together.  It’s so challenging (in a good way) and good for the creative juices to go to a client’s home and start from scratch – no session is ever like another which I love!  For instance, check out the fab baroque wallpaper in one of these shots – I have the most stylish clients!

Thanks you “B” family, again, for the opportunity to photograph your growing family!  Here are some of my faves—
